The starting point is the village square in Außervillgraten, about 50 meters towards the main road. After the bridge, turn right and cross the road. Walk along the sidewalk, then you'll see the 'Krumer Herpfe' on the left with the information panel of the same name. After 50 meters, turn left and walk along the road towards the 'Niederbrugger Stüberl'. Turn right towards the church, and you'll see the information panel with a description of the Außervillgraten parish church of 'St. Gertraud'.
Continue down the municipal road, turn right at the intersection, and walk along the sidewalk for about 100 meters. On the left, there's a signposted bridge where you cross the Villgraten stream. Then turn left again and follow the riverside path. Pass the Walder carpentry shop, and then, on the left, you'll see the children's playground. From the playground, the path is entirely in the forest. After two pasture gates, you'll see a small fishpond on the right. Further on, also on the right, is the 'Herzplatzl' (Herz Square) with a 'Wood Culture' information board.
After about a 10-minute walk, you'll see a disused sawmill on the right. At the end of a short climb, the trail leads back into the forest and to the final information panel, which describes the famous painter Ernst Schromm. After a short rest, we return to the starting point along the same path.
Another highlight is the village viewpoint 'Glinze'. We head toward Winkeltal, past the Gasthof Perfler, and cross the Winkeltalbach stream at the first bridge on the right. From there, you can already see the 'Mills' theme panel. Continuing toward 'Glinze', or the route of the Ace of Hearts Stage 1, after 150 m you will find the 'Rural Architecture' theme panel. This is where the village viewpoint trail ends. The 'Glinze' village viewpoint is especially recommended in the late afternoon, as it offers a perfect spot for watching the sunset.
There are plenty of seating areas along the path to enjoy a lovely evening stroll.
